The Yamaha BD-S1065 Blu Ray Player also handles CDs with ease, making it an especially good choice if you're a music lover looking to reduce the number of components in your A/V rack. The Yamaha BD-S1065 features a single HDMI output for HD video and audio signal transmission. The HDMI output supports 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p and 1080p/24 resolutions. Standard definition DVD signals (480p) are scaled and output at the specified resolution via HDMI. The BD-S1065 features one component video output, capable of 480i, 480p, 720p, or 1080i output. Standard definition DVD signals (480p) cannot be scaled to 720p or 1080i and output via component video. The DVD player features one Composite video and one S-video output for standard 480i video playback. The BD-S1065 also features a rear-panel USB memory slot for additional storage using a USB mass storage class device formatted in FAT 32/16 (2GB or greater

The Yamaha BD-S1065 Blu Ray Player performs admirably with video too, offering top-of-the-line 1080p output for a gorgeous high-definition picture that will really show what your HDTV is capable of. A rear Ethernet port lets you use your high-speed Internet connection to enjoy the fun Blu-ray bonus features offered by BD-Live. These extras range from online games to downloadable shorts and movie trailers.

The Yamaha BD-S1065 supports the following disc formats: BD-Video, BD-R/RE DL (recordable Blu-ray), DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW (VR mode supported), DVD-R DL, DVD+R/RW, DVD+R DL, CD, and CD-R/RW (CD-Audio/JPEG only).

The Blu-ray player's HDMI output is capable of multi-channel bitstream (Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD High Resolution, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital, and DTS) and multi-channel LPCM output. The optical and coaxial digital outputs pass either Dolby Digital or DTS bitstream, or 2-channel PCM.

Relative to the front speakers, you can optimize the time at which sound is output from the other speakers according to their distance from your listening position; center, surround (one adjustment for left and right), and surround back (one adjustment for left and right).
